|Position Description:||Learning Technology Specialist|
We are looking for a talented learning technology specialist to join our team. As part of the team, you will contribute to our success by providing employees with learning and development opportunities and resources that focus on skill enhancement and professional and organizational growth. The successful candidate will have experience as a learning technology specialist with proven accomplishments in leading the use of learning management systems, designing and developing instructional content, and managing websites and social media.
The Employee and Organization Development office in Cal Poly’s Human Resources Department exists to improve organizational effectiveness at one of the most highly regarded public universities in the country. Our mission is to develop and execute development strategies to support the organization in achieving the President’s vision for Cal Poly. We design programs and strategies, facilitate initiatives, and direct employees toward the wealth of available resources. We are looking for a talented learning technology specialist to join our team. As part of the team, you will contribute to our success by providing employees with learning and development opportunities and resources that focus on skill enhancement and professional and organizational growth. The successful candidate will have experience as a learning technology specialist with proven accomplishments in leading the use of learning management systems, designing and developing instructional content, and managing websites and social media. This individual will be passionate about talent development and able to quickly learn Cal Poly’s values and employee needs in order to provide effective learning experiences in this dynamic environment.
• Learning technologies: Demonstrated proficiency with a variety of current Learning Management Systems (LMS), and experience applying a variety of learning technologies and online publishing programs to address specific learning and performance needs
• Instructional design and development: Extensive expertise in the design and development of formal and informal learning experiences for the adult learner including skill in needs analysis, collaborating with subject matter experts, developing training guides and supporting materials, writing audio scripts, and implementing interactive in-person and online learning activities
• Knowledge management: Experience utilizing a variety of methods to discover, capture, and distribute available information and resources to provide learners with targeted, high-quality intellectual assets
• Strategic thinking: Demonstrated ability to independently extract broad organizational patterns from detailed information and disparate sources with a proven track record of aligning development activities to support and influence long-term objectives
Education and Experience
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university and four years of progressively responsible experience in learning and development. A graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Anticipated Hiring Range: $ 66,000- $90,000 per year
Classification Range: $56,316 - $98,904 per year
