|Position Description:||The UNC Adams School of Dentistry’s mission is to promote the health of the people of North Carolina, the nation, and the world through excellence in teaching, patient care, research and service. The Adams School of Dentistry Office of Human Resources (ASOD HR) provides comprehensive human resources services that enable the School to achieve its mission; services includes compensation and classification, recruitment and staffing, employee relations and dispute resolution, communications and talent development, and information systems and records.|
The Human Resources Consultant serves as a generalist who provides technical expertise and customer consultation in employment and staffing, classification and compensation, and employee relations. The HR Consultant frequently interacts and coordinates activity with various units housed within the University’s Office of Human Resources. The HR Consultant prepares, approves, and/or troubleshoots proposed HR actions to ensure compliance with relevant federal, state, and University policies. This position advises and collaborates with the School’s management on staffing, position management, organizational development, recruitment and hiring, and employee relations and performance. This position is expected to identify and address complex problems, collaboratively evaluate options, and promote the use of best practices to achieve mutually agreeable outcomes.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree and two years of progressively responsible professional human resources management experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
This position requires the ability to establish and maintain a collaborative working relationship with customers; thorough knowledge of Federal, State, University, and School regulations, policies, and procedures; the ability to analyze issues and develop solutions that meet customer’s needs and are consistent with regulatory requirements. The successful candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, sound business judgment, a high level of detail and organization, professionalism, diplomacy, and the ability to interact with personnel at all levels of the School and University.
Three or more years of professional-level human resources experience in an environment of similar scope to the UNC Adams School of Dentistry. Experience in human resources consulting and some combination of the following human resources functions: classification and compensation; employee relations; recruitment and staffing; faculty appointments. Experience using ConnectCarolina as a complex user.
