Position Description:Job Summary:

Independently perform a broad range of staff compensation services, guidance and advice for assigned school or unit(s) and/or Senior HR.

Job-Specific Responsibilities -

• Support SPH HR in developing, implementing, evaluating, and communicating compensation programs to support SPH strategies and business objectives, including the annual increase and bonus programs
• Provide equity review and salary offer recommendations using regression modeling
• Conduct market analyses, using external market data, to ensure equity of salary data of current workforce and competitiveness amongst external workforce

• Perform comprehensive classification analyses of salary grades for new and replacement posting requests, as well as for reclassification requests, in collaboration with HR Partners and Recruitment team
• Provide consultation to SPH managers and senior leaders to ensure that they provide clear, complete, and well-written Position Posting and Job Review Forms
• Meet with managers, incumbents, and any additional, relevant parties to fully understand the role under review; work with the manager and department administrator to update form to accurately and completely describe the role
• Collect and analyze information required to appropriately benchmark and classify a position, by reviewing Harvard University job matrices and HUCTW benchmark job descriptions to determine which benchmark(s) most closely aligns with the duties and responsibilities, scope and complexity, and independence of action for the role; researching and identifying existing positions across SPH and Harvard University that perform comparable work; and researching comparable roles in market
• Make recommendations on appropriate grade level, salary level, and FLSA status for positions
• Attend classification review meetings to provide additional context and information to the committee and move forms through appropriate review and approval processes
• Work in collaboration with Central Compensation on FLSA exemption issues; maintain accurate records of FLSA requests and reviews

Other Core Duties:
• Develop drafts of training sessions for compensation and related policies and practices
• Oversight of job posting form and job reclassification form, including accuracy, revisions, and dissemination of updated versions
• Partner with departments, and their HR Partner, to calculate interim pay and bonuses as needed
• Partner with staff members in compensation roles throughout the University in order ensure best practices
• Other duties as required

Typical Core Duties:
• Compile metrics and employee information directly related to the research, analysis, and administration of the University's compensation programs
• Develop reports and analysis and pay modeling of compensation data in support of client service, ongoing and new projects
• Participate in providing information needed to inform high level decision making
• Assist with market and equity reviews, and compensation program administration
• Conduct market studies and perform in-depth analysis to develop base pay and variable pay programs for target populations
• Ensure accuracy of data within the market pricing tool and maintain vendor relations
• Partner with HRIS on compensation related reporting via HR database tools
• Provide ad hoc analysis for all members of the department and other related duties as required
• Ensure compliance with University Human Resources policies, procedures, and requirements and applicable legal regulations

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
• Minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience

Additional Qualifications:
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, advanced Excel skills preferred
• PeopleSoft experience preferred
• Strong working knowledge of FLSA including a thorough understanding and experience in applying Massachusetts state and federal wage and hour regulations preferred
