Hiring Heroes: Helping Veterans Find a Place in the Civilian Workforce
An estimated 1 million service members are expected to enter the civilian workforce in the coming years. These men and women have been trained to be competent and highly motivated leaders. As a result, most veterans emerge from their military careers with proven records of positive employment outcomes, yet some of these heroes end up facing the biggest battles of their careers as they transition to the civilian workforce. Join this panel discussion as Dr. Anja Wynne, CHRO at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs and former lieutenant colonel in the United States Air Force Reserve, shares her story. Josh Brown, director of talent acquisition, will also share Clemson University's strategies. Attendees will translate a veteran's resume and will leave with an understanding of the benefits of hiring veterans, the barriers facing both the veterans and our institutions, and concrete strategies and online resources that will change the way your institution evaluates veteran candidates.
