Tag, You’re It! Onboarding in a Decentralized Institution
As a strategic partner to the organization, HR's role in onboarding is to define what new employees need to know to successfully integrate after orientation and identify who can provide that information. Sometimes this feels like a game of tag and HR is “it.” A vital piece to empowering departments and supervisors to lead their own onboarding is to provide support and resources on how to do it effectively. In 2016, the University of Denver overhauled its orientation and onboarding programs to focus on building employee engagement and understanding organizational culture through shared ownership. In this session, we’ll share what worked, what didn’t and the why and how of our program.
