How HR Can Provide Guidance on Determining Presidential Compensation

Determining the president’s compensation is one of the core fiduciary duties of a college or university governing board, but the process frequently occurs with little to no guidance or support from HR. This is an increasingly challenging responsibility with laws and regulations that provide guidance, but also constraint. Plus, knowing the decision will be made public to the government, media, faculty, students, parents and donors can create even more pressure. Learn how HR can provide guidance on the applicable laws and regulations, and effective practices governing boards can use to make sure compensation is fair, competitive and will stand up to public scrutiny. HR professionals who have a greater awareness of these laws, regulations and practices will be better able to provide support on this critical issue.
