"Why Would I Need Leadership Development? I'm Faculty"
Many higher education institutions, including those with academic medical centers, are the epitome of decentralized and distributed leadership. Developing a pipeline of future leaders able to carry out the work of leadership throughout the institution is often a priority. Unfortunately, for many of our faculty, leadership roles are not at the forefront of their minds. Some see leadership as an unwelcome distraction. Quite simply, we do not always have enough people to take on the work of leadership. However, the importance of building collaborative relationships with faculty colleagues presents a phenomenal opportunity for HR to extend its reach.
