Central Michigan University's Leadership Standards Initiative

Left to their own devices, people lead others based on what they learn along the way about how to be a supervisor. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t and sometimes it can wreak havoc on people, departments and even larger sections of the organization. In this session, we’ll explore how Central Michigan University developed and implemented a common set of leadership standards to guide leaders at all levels in the organization to manage and lead in alignment with the university’s core values and best leadership practices. We’ll share keys for the successful implementation of a major change initiative and methods for gaining top level leadership buy-in.

Harley Blake, Manager of Professional Development Programs; Lori Hella, Associate Vice President for Human Resources; and Kevin Smart, Director of Employee Relations, all of Central Michigan University
