Off the Tenure-Track: How Can HR Partner with Academic Leadership to Rethink the Faculty Workforce Model?
Hiring decisions made at department and program levels have dramatically evolved the faculty workforce over time as nontenure-track faculty—both full-time and part-time—now fill significant roles. With decision making often driven by the reality of serving more students in budget-constrained environments, changes in faculty composition have likely been reactive as much as strategic. Such strategic planning includes appropriate leveraging of nontenure-track faculty in pursuit of institutional mission and objectives.
