Position Information

Position Description:The Director of OHR Strategy will serve as a key member of the OHR leadership team reporting directly to the Vice President for Human Resources. The Strategy Director will support Vice President of Human Resources in the development, consultation, communication, and execution of a University of Minnesota human resource strategic plan working together with OHR senior leadership and University system campus and department human resource leaders. The Strategy Director will lead to the creation of an overarching human resource strategy report based on available data analytics and metrics.

The Strategy Director will also manage the OHR administration team, the OHR communications team, the OHR diversity and inclusion specialist, and will lead OHR policy work, budget development and review, and manage OHR space and technology needs.

Essential Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field with at least 12 years of progressive experience including formal and informal leadership roles, both in a large public higher education setting and other large employer environments
• Demonstrated record of supporting principles of equal opportunity and affirmative action and seeking to achieve a diverse workforce
• Experience working with and supporting senior and executive leadership
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels to facilitate positive working relationships and further cross-functional projects and initiatives through consensus building
• Ability to recommend options, and to relate sensitively to internal and external constituents and colleagues
• Strong analytical, prioritizing, problem-solving, presentation, and planning skills
• Strong conflict management skills, with the ability to be direct, and compassionate, while working toward effective resolution
• Solid experience as a strategic thought partner, and an excellent communicator both verbal and written
• Ability to delegate work assignments, set expectations and ensure the completion of assigned responsibilities
• Versatility and adaptability, ability to shift to new assignments, learn new skills, interpret and synthesize new information, build new relationships, and navigate complex environments
• Ability to work under pressure with accuracy, manage multiple and competing priorities, meet deadlines, handle interruptions, work on own initiative, and make timely decisions
• Project and change management expertise

Preferred Qualifications
• Advanced degree in Strategic Management, Human Resources, Business or related field
• Direct experience as a human resource practitioner
• Minimum of six years of experience at a R1 public research higher education institution
• Experience in leadership positions at a R1 public research University
• Professional certifications in strategic management, project management, human resources
