Off the Tenure-Track: Rethinking the Faculty Workforce Model

Despite representing nearly one-third of the academic workforce in American higher education, negative preconceptions remain around adjunct faculty and their work experience. This session will enhance attendees’ understanding of the adjunct faculty dynamic, their demographics, employment experience, career satisfaction and position preferences. The session will share two university’s experiences and insights to stimulate new thinking about how to best leverage non-tenure-track faculty, particularly adjunct faculty, to advance institutional objectives for educating today’s student body.
