Building Capabilities

Description:Faculty today are stressed out, overworked and fatigued. A recent survey conducted by Fidelity Investments and The Chronicle of Higher Education of more than 1,000 professors and instructors nationwide found a struggling group, with 70 percent of tenured faculty saying their work-life balance deteriorated in 2020, and 86 percent of female tenured professors saying that their workload has increased. What can college leaders do to support them? In this session, we’ll examine the impact 2020 has had on faculty and discuss possible solutions.

Description:Last year brought twists and turns that took many of us by surprise, necessitating that we absorb and adapt to many different challenges. We found ourselves making decisions at what felt like lightning speed in organizations that historically move at a much slower pace. In this session, staff from NC State’s Onboarding Center will examine key characteristics of resiliency, how they used those characteristics to adapt and innovate by adjusting their practices to react to the crisis, and how this approach can be used in a non-crisis environment. This session is sponsored by VirginPulse.
