Description:How do you create a benefits or retirement program that is easy to use, maximizes your benefits spend, and helps participants feel secure, all while allowing you to demonstrate a prudent fiduciary process? The data is clear — it’s all about defaults. Employees have voted overwhelmingly with their dollars that they like using default options such as target-date funds and features, including auto enrollment and auto escalation. The right default option should seek to maximize outcomes, create value per dollar spent, and help participants feel secure. In this session, we’ll explore how new smarter default strategies help decrease risk during participants’ savings year, embed a guaranteed pension like benefits into the program, and keep the overall costs the same or even lower them. Description:Developing a competitive, comprehensive pay program for both faculty and staff is a daunting task in a “normal” year. The pandemic brought on unique challenges for Towson University, as we worked with Segal to navigate the study work steps in 2020 while maintaining transparency. This session explores the project's successes, outcomes, challenges, internal collaboration and shared governance approach, implementation and communication strategy, and ongoing program maintenance by HR.
